The 10 Most Famous Actresses in Hollywood

Leading ladies in Hollywood are arguably more prominent in the industry now than ever before, and are calling for more opportunities and recognition. Actresses such as Viola Davis, Patricia Arquette and Jennifer Lawrence have been vocal on the need for greater diversity, opportunity and equal pay.

MarketWatch’s partner Graphiq, which creates interactive graphics out of data sets, has released a list of the top 10 most famous actresses from its celebrity-focused division PrettyFamous. Each actress was given an “actor score,” which incorporates Wikipedia page views, total award nominations and the number of reviews posted for films and TV shows they’ve starred in.

Graphiq noted that unlike its top 10 famous actors list, none of the women on the list received an actor score of 100. That may explain why in the last year, the lack of equality in the number of roles and nominations women receive compared with men has come under scrutiny.

Also included is the net worth of each actress, calculated by celebrity finance site Celebrity Net Worth, which gathers public and private information from celebrities and their management teams, including salaries, real estate, lawsuits, divorces and assets.
