The new Rolls Sweptail, unveiled at the elegance contest of the Villa d’Este in Italy, would have cost the owner 11.4 million euros. Which would make it the most expensive new car in the world.
From 26th to 28th of May, there was the elegance contest of the Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como near Milan, one of the most prestigious competitions of elegance of collection automobiles of the world.
And on this occasion, the British firm Rolls-Royce released the great game by unveiling a unique model: the Sweptail. This creation was conceived and built to measure at the request of a customer. The base of the vehicle is a Phantom Coupe – another model of the brand – with a roofline that descends to the rear of the car and a glass roof ending in a point. The idea being to wink at the creations of the 1920s.
The world’s most expensive new car
But this model – created in a single copy – has a cost. And not the least. According to Car Magazine’s English journalists , this special “Rolls” would have cost 10 million pounds to its lucky owner, the equivalent of 11.4 million euros.
This would make it by far the most expensive new car in the world. By way of comparison, the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Italian brand Lamborghini, costs “only” 3.3 million euros. The Bugatti Chiron, another reference, costs it the trifle of 2.4 million euros. Even some older models do not reach this price in the vintage automobile market.
The identity of the buyer of this little jewel remained secret.
