Barcelona will put five players up for sale this summer as they bid to lower their considerable wage bill.
The Spanish giants’ expenditure on wages currently stands at around 84 per cent of their overall budget and drastic action is needed if they are to rebuild their squad in 2018.
Barcelona made no secret of their desire to sell Arda Turan over the summer, with the Turkish midfielder offered to Arsenal, among others.
But Turan is not the only squad member Barcelona are looking to sell.
Diario Gol reports that former Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen is available, as are Paco Alcacer, Andre Gomes and Aleix Vidal, who was bought at the same time as Turan.
Shifting any of these players will not be easy, however, as all are on good salaries that are unlikely to be matched by suitors.
Vermaelen had the opportunity to leave over the summer but opted to stay and Barcelona fear similar problems may occur at the end of the season.
