A Chinese company has launched the TEB-1, a Transit Elevated Bus which sits over two lanes of traffic and lets cars pass underneath it.
According to a report by The Washington Post, the TEB-1 is over 5 metres tall and could provide a solution to traffic congestion in urban areas.
The company behind the project is TEB Technology, which conducted a road test in the Chinese city of Qinhuangdao this week.
The bus rolls along a track, which is built into existing road infrastructure, and can accommodate up to 300 passengers.
The Washington post pointed out that large SUVs and trucks will not be able to pass underneath the bus, while small roads, intersections, and bridges may prove problematic for TEB’s design.
