The Red Devils crashed out of the Champions League on Tuesday as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Sevilla on Tuesday.
Frank de Boer has hit back at Jose Mourinho in the war of words between the two men, claiming that the entertainment value of the Portuguese’s Manchester United side is woeful.
It was clearly an outcome that the Dutchman relished following Mourinho’s attack on him in the days leading up to the fixture.
De Boer had criticised the former Real Madrid boss’ handling of Marcus Rashford, leading Mourinho to brand the Dutchman “the worst manager in Premier League history”.
Following Sevilla’s win at Old Trafford, however, it provided the ex-Crystal Palace manager with the opportunity to get the final word in.
“He can call me the worst manager in the history of the Premier League, but when I see that he has spent a billion pounds and makes his teams play like this…” he told beIN Sports.
United have endured a disappointing season, despite sitting second in the Premier League to rivals Manchester City, who are 16 points clear of them in the standings.
Mourinho’s side only have the FA Cup to fall back on as they chase silverware and they face Brighton at home in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
