Google has revealed its search data for 2017 and when it comes to the most Googled movies, Star Wars doesn’t actually dominate. In fact, it’s not even in the top ten.

Topping the chart of the most searched for film of 2017 was actually scary clown movie IT (although we aren’t sure how Google definitely knows that people weren’t searching for ‘Information Technology’ or just the pronoun ‘it’, but there you go).

In second place was Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast, which is still the highest grossing movie of the year worldwide, while indie horror Get Out came in 4th place.

Superhero movies Wonder WomanLogan and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 all made the top ten with well-reviewed Baby DriverHidden Figures and Dunkirk rounding out the list.

We would note though that Star Wars: The Last Jedi isn’t actually out yet – and, in any case, it’s bound to be the most Googled movie of December.

The most googled actor was Meghan Markle, for obvious reasons, followed by Kevin Spacey, for less pleasant obvious reasons.

Other actors who made the top ten were Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot and IT star Bill Skarsgard, along with Stranger Things‘ Millie Bobby Brown and Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s Tom Holland.

Tommy Wiseau, director of terrible movie The Room took the number 10 spot, ahead of James Franco (who was nowhere to be seen), director and star of The Disaster Artist, a movie about Wiseau and the making of his disaster-piece.
