Madonna has not had the greatest start to 2016, what with the music legend losing custody of her teenage son, Rocco Ritchie, to his father and repeatedly being slammed for her Rebel Heart tour dates.
On top of having to start some concerts late due to technical issues, Madge’s outlandish behaviour has seen her be accused of getting drunk on stage and performing whilst intoxicated.
Now the star has hit back at the scrutiny and “misogynistic” allegations, insisting that she is giving her fans nothing less than 110% when on stage.
To get the message across, Madonna re-grammed a note of support from one of her fans, Remington Groves, which read: “The latest media onslaught against Madonna is that she’s taken to being drunk on stage, which anyone who knows anything about her knows is absolutely ridiculous.
“Madonna is a classically trained dancer who has spent her entire life taking meticulous care of her body and health. She doesn’t drink. She doesn’t smoke. She doesn’t use drugs. She has always been, from day one, savagely devoted to her show. She’s known for it. That’s one thing.
“Another thing – Madonna’s show is a tightly choreographed, intricate, two-hour production, both performance-wise and with the technology she uses. One missed cue and the entire thing is interrupted. How anyone could believe she could execute her show with the precision required to do so, and be intoxicated is beyond me. It’s called physics. It’s called logic. Use it.
“Madonna has never been drunk on stage. And these sorts of accusations are nothing short of yet another MISOGYNISTIC attempt to undermine a highly accomplished woman’s value. But at the end of the day, Madonna is infinitely more important to mankind than aaany of her detractors could ever hope to be. Swallow it. [sic]”
Madonna added in the caption: “Thanks for supporting me. Too bad people don’t know the art of acting and playing a character. I could never do any of my shows high or drunk.
“And yes underlying all of this is sexism and misogyny, which proves that not only do we not get equal pay but we are still treated like heretics if we step out of line and think outside the box! . Sexism is alive and kicking but i am #livingforlove [sic]”.
Fans were quick to offer Madonna their support in the comments, with the 57-year-old coming under fire just a few days ago when she was reportedly spotted sipping tequila and pleading for sex with her Australian audience.
