A ‘monster’ who raped a woman weekly for more than a decade has been jailed for 10 years.
Brian Hanmore, 39, often abused his victim so roughly she bled and would also put his hands around her throat, verbally abuse her and pull her hair.
On several occasions she was forced to have sex in front of her children.
Bournemouth Crown Court heard Hanmore, from Poole, Dorset, who admitted five counts of rape, treated the vicious assaults as a ‘game’.
His victim, who cannot be named, said she is ‘frightened’ to think he might be released from prison in five years.
She has spoken out about her abuser as a warning to other women about what he is capable of.
She said: ‘It’s not just me that’s been affected, it’s my family too, and especially my children. I’m glad justice has been done.
‘I’m frightened to think he could be out in five years, but I want everyone to know who he is so he can never do this to anyone else.
‘He is a monster and will go to any extreme measure to make someone hurt.’
She also urged other victims of sexual violence to speak out saying: ‘I’d tell other victims that there is hope. A lot of damage was done to me and there have been a lot of hurdles to overcome, but there is hope.
‘I found it.’
Prosecutor Kerry Maylin said the victim was targeted at several addresses in Dorset.
Hanmore, who wore a blue Jack Wills hoodie in the dock, sat with his hand over his mouth as details of his horrific abuse were read aloud.
He started his sentence on his birthday.
Mitigating, Richard Tutt said Hanmore, a warehouse worker, is ‘truly ashamed and remorseful for what he did’.
