Why Meat Loaf collapsed On Stage Again

Meat Loaf collapsed due to “severe dehydration”.

The ‘Bat Out of Hell’ hitmaker panicked fans when he dropped to the floor on stage while belting out his classic song, ‘I Will Do Anything For Love’, at the Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton, Canada on Thursday but he is “stable” and recovering in hospital.

A representative for the 68-year-old singer said in a statement: “Meat Loaf collapsed Thursday night due to severe dehydration near the end of his concert at the Northern Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton, Alberta Canada.

“He was admitted to a nearby hospital to undergo routine tests. His vital signs are stable and normal – he’s responsive and recovering well.”

Meat Loaf – whose real name is Michael Lee Aday – cancelled two other concerts in recent days, in Regina on Saturday and in Calgary on Tuesday, citing ill-health, but has promised to reschedule the postponed gigs.

The statement continued: “He extends his heartfelt thanks for everyone’s support and well wishes , and is expecting to make a speedy and full recovery.

“Any concert postponements/rescheduled dates will be announced at a later time. Thank you for your support and understanding.”

It’s not the first time he has collapsed on stage.

In 2011, he was able to continue his concert in Pittsburgh and finish the show after becoming unwell but in 2003, after collapsing at Wembley Arena in London, he was admitted to hospital.

Meat Loaf suffers from asthma and a medical condition which causes an irregular heartbeat.
