Meet the 3 Female Scientists Who Led India’s Mars Orbiter Mission

The Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) was India’s first interplanetary mission. It cemented India’s place in space research. Also known as Mangalyaan, the MOM made India the first nation to reach Mars on its first attempt.

Three scientists share stories about India’s first interplanetary mission – the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM).

The scientists are Seetha Somasundaram, Nandini Harinath, and Minal Rohit.




The three scientists recount the long, exciting, and tense hours they spent throughout the mission. They talk about their efforts in ensuring the success of the space mission which brought awe and pride to us all.
