Councils, funeral directors and Mosques in Manchester are refusing to deal with bomber Salman Abedi’s body as it emerged his corpse is currently being held in a morgue outside the city.
The city’s authorities are reportedly doing ‘everything in their power’ to stop him being cremated, buried, or laid to rest in any way in the Greater Manchester area.
Their reassurance is reminiscent of the case of Moors Murderer Ian Brady, who died earlier this month.
After his death, councils across the UK refused to deal with Brady’s body after it was revealed he wanted his ashes scattered in Glasgow.
A source told MEN: ‘Just like Ian Brady, every effort is going into making sure that there is not a chance Abedi can be buried or cremated in Greater Manchester.’
