Netflix has revealed its most popular shows of 2017 – and the findings might surprise you.
Although binge-watching became a standard form of consuming new shows, some series were watched in different ways. For example, there were some we devoured – ie those we watched more than two hours a day – and those we savoured, ie those we watched less than two hours a day. Unsurprisingly, Stranger Things 2 was the most binge-raced show in the UK in 2017, with subscribers watching the entire series in under 24 hours on the day of launch.
In terms of those we devoured, several of the top 10 entries are a little unexpected. Oprah Winfrey-produced US drama, Greenleaf, about a family that runs a huge church in Memphis, came first, followed by crime satire American Vandal.

When it came to shows we savoured, we gravitated towards series with a loose non-fiction focus, such as The Crown and Jack Whitehall’s Travels With My Father.
