Nicole Scherzinger and Lewis Hamilton called it quits on their seven-year relationship in 2015.
Yet the singer couldn’t resist the opportunity to take a swipe at her ex two years later as she seemingly branded him ‘selfish’ in a Fabulous magazine interview.
The Don’t Hold Your Breath hitmaker opened up her old wounds when she discussed her naivety at the time, admitting it was heartbreaking to realise their love wasn’t meant to be.
‘Sometimes the man tends to be quite selfish’: Nicole Scherzinger made a thinly veiled dig at ex Lewis Hamilton as she confessed she found their love hard to ‘let go’
Glamorous Nicole seemed to claim the Formula One racing driver was only thinking about what was best for him while she put her all into making the relationship last.
Of her ex, she told the publication: ‘As women, we tend to love the other person and give everything to them. But sometimes the other person – the man – tends to be quite selfish, so they’re thinking of themselves and doing what’s best for them and meanwhile we’re giving everything.’
Former Pussycat Dolls songstress Nicole candidly revealed she found ‘learning to let go’ of what they had extremely difficult because she doesn’t like to ‘fail at things’.
‘It’s about how you react and how you accept things or don’t accept things. Learning to let go. I was in that relationship for almost seven years,’ she explained. ‘And I don’t like to fail at things.
‘So I’m like: “I will make this work somehow!” But sometimes we don’t realise that things just aren’t meant to be.’
The American beauty has mended her heart and moved on with hunky tennis player Grigor Dimitrov, 25.
They started their own love story in July and while the long distance is ‘hard work’, she confessed she has thrown herself all in.
She explained: ‘I can’t sit here and preach I know everything about relationships because at the end of the day I’m just a big, fat, juicy heart of a girl who loves to love. I don’t fall easily but I fall hard. And deep. When I’m in, I’m all the way in.’
Since dating Nicole, Lewis has been romantically linked to a string of women including models such as Barbara Palvin and Winnie Harlow.
The motormouth had put the brakes on his relationship with Nicole as he previously revealed how she ‘always came second’ to his racing dreams.
Of Nicole, he told Top Gear magazine in August 2016: ‘My cars are my babies. I used to say, when I had a girlfriend, “I’m taking one of the girls out, so you can come if you want, but you come second when it comes to the cars.”
As the racing driver prepares to take to the tracks again for the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon, his ex girlfriend was out partying at Reign Club in London.
The X Factor judge, who confirmed she will return for the next series of the show, was hard to miss in her luminous yellow trousers.
