Rex Features The Overtones star Timmy Matley has died aged 36. The sad news was confirmed by his bandmates on social media.
The Overtones members Mike, Mark, Darren and Lachie tweeted: ‘It is with the greatest sadness that we have to announce that our dear friend and brother Timmy has passed away.
‘We know this news will be as heartbreaking for you all as it is for us. ‘We appreciate your love and support at this difficult time.’ Timmy had been battling skin cancer since 2016, having been diagnosed with stage three malignant melanoma.
The circumstances of his death have not been confirmed. Matley was due to complete a charity skydive on 3 May to raise money for the Royal Marsden hospital in London, where he received his cancer treatment. He had already raised £6,000 through a JustGiving page.
The Overtones were set to go on tour this summer, performing in June in Norwich and Wrexham and going on to tour the UK in July. Matley’s final performance with The Overtones was on 23 March, when the band performed on Jane McDonald And Friends.
