Pep Guardiola has revealed what he said to Paul Pogba after Manchester United’s dramatic win over Manchester City.
United took all three points in the derby at the Etihad by overturning a two-goal deficit to run out 3-2 winners.
Pogba notched the away side’s first two goals before Chris Smalling scored the third to put City’s title celebrations on ice.
Guardiola approached the midfielder after the final whistle.
“I went to congratulate him on the result,” Guardiola is quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News.
Pogba, During an interview, after the match said “I didn’t want to lose against City, the loss from last season is still in my mind,”. “If they won they are champions, for all the fans it would be like death.
“To lose against City and to see them celebrate, I couldn’t let that happen.
“At half time in the dressing room we said we have nothing to lose, 2-0 lets make it.
“After a second half like this, we have to do that all the time. If we did we would be up there with City, and maybe even in front.”
City face Liverpool on Tuesday in the second leg of their Champions League quarter final.
Guardiola’s men are 3-0 down following the first leg at Anfield.
