The Truth About So Called “Healthy” Fat Burning Foods

The standard Western diet doesn’t include many fat burning foods. In fact it is loaded with additives, preservatives, and over-processed foods containing ingredients that get you hooked so you keep buying.

In the United States, more than two-thirds of the population is considered overweight or obese.

It’s a national epidemic that plagues industrialized nations who are becoming more and more dependent on pre-prepared meals that are “fast” and “cheap” – but horrible for your health.

Instead of regular salt, perhaps you use sea salt. Rather than choosing that high-chemical bottled tea, you choose to make your own green tea at home and take it with you. Instead of granulated white sugar, you pick up a bag of coconut or maple sugar.

Then, based on all the fantastic research, you opt to replace those cancer-causing vegetable oils with delicious and nutritious olive oil as a healthier option for your heart and weight control. After all, it’s packed with monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) that help lower cholesterol, regulate blood flow, it acts as a fat burning food, and helps control blood sugar.

Only… you might not be getting the good stuff.

Olive oil will help you shed fat but not if you’re not using “real” olive oil. Wait…does that mean there is “fake” olive oil? Unfortunately, yes.

The Olive Oil Hoax

In fact, Consumer Reports estimated that 20% of olive oils are fake (mixed with cheaper oils) while 73% didn’t pass purity testing done by the UC Davis Olive Center. They were labeled (another issue) as extra virgin olive oils (EVOO) – 100% pure – but were highly processed.

Vegetable oils are packed with trans-fats and are horrible for your waistline! Even small amounts lead to heart disease, accumulation of belly fat, and cause visceral fat to gather around your primary organs. Visceral fat is the most difficult fat to shed.

Olive oil is certainly not the only “fat burning health food” that we’ve been scammed on – but the research on true extra virgin olive oil is so good, proving it to be an excellent addition to your daily diet. That makes the deception one of the worst.

The Honey Hoax

It gets worse! Another incredible natural food with countless health benefits is honey – and unless you’re buying from a local organic source, you may be consuming “fake” honey. You read that right. As much as 75% of honey sold on U.S. grocery shelves was found to contain heavy metals and a banned antibiotic additive.

Health Foods that Aren’t Even Close

Diet foods are marketed to people trying to find a quick fix to weight control. The additives and substitute ingredients in these low calorie “health foods” are far more dangerous to your health than the full calorie, full fat versions. Why?

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ruled that food manufacturers can call their food “trans fat free” if it contains less than .5g per serving. Food manufacturers simply lower the serving size, place their lie on the label, and you have no idea you’re consuming the most dangerous form of fat in your diet – most likely on a daily basis.

Beware of foods that are “low fat” and “light.” Consider instead “The French Paradox.”

The French have fascinated nutritionists and researchers for decades.

Their standard diet is high in many foods you’re told to avoid at all costs but nationally, they have much lower rates of obesity, heart disease, neurodegenerative disorders, cholesterol, and diabetes than the U.S.

What’s Their Secret?

They avoid foods that store fat. Wheat bread (less whole grains than white), orange juice (less nutrients and five times more sugar), low-fat yogurt (artificial sweeteners and added antibiotics), and butter “alternatives” (packed with trans fats), “fake” olive oil, and “fake” honey are not part of the French diet.

These foods have ingredients that you’re told are “healthy” – but they aren’t nearly as healthy as the government and food industry want you to believe. The French diet is far different (and the exact opposite of what we’ve been told).
