WhatsApp is down rigth now with hundreds of users struggling to connect
Independent website DownDetector, which tracks social comments around a certain topic to monitor outages across the globe, shows over a thousand of WhatsApp customers reporting issues using the app.
According to the site, problems with the chat app occurred around 8am this morning, with hundreds of people reporting issues with the app.
DownDetector says that 60 per cent of customers are having issue connecting to it.
A further 25 per cent report issues receiving messages and 14 per cent are struggling to login.
Over a thousand users are reporting issues
One user tweeted: “I’m such a cliche. Checking twitter to see if #whatsapp is down. It is.”
Another writes: “Whatsapp is down, whatsapp is down. This is not a drill. How can I demand constant attention from my friends now?!”
And one posted: “When Whatsapp isn’t working and you have to text someone and not know if they’ve looked at the message or not.”
This is not the first outage that WhatsApp has suffered this year.
The hugely-popular Facebook-owned chat app went offline for thousands of users back in May.
The outage lasted hours, with WhatsApp forced to issue a statement about the disruption to the service.
Speaking at the time, a spokesperson for the company said: “Earlier today, WhatsApp users in all parts of the world were unable to access WhatsApp for a few hours.
“We have now fixed the issue and apologise for the inconvenience.”
WhatsApp also suffered another worldwide outage earlier this month, with hundreds of users affected.
