The World’s Romantic World Revealed

This time of the year tends to bring out the romantic in all of us and it doesn’t stop when it comes to world records.

To commemorate this year’s Valentine’s Day, the Guinness World Records have shared with FEMAIL a list of the most heart-fluttering world record titles of all time.

From underwater weddings to the largest box of chocolates ever recorded, these records show the lengths people will go to in order to be number one.

In Brazil, people celebrate Valentine’s Day on 12 June and to commemorate the occasion a mural of kisses was constructed in 2012.

Commuters at one of São Paulo’s busiest subway stations were invited to help break the romantic record.

The kisses were made with lip balm kisses on sticky notes and were displayed on a board to form a big giant kiss.

The board measured 18 metres squared and consisted of 13,316 kisses.

If there is one treat that is often associated with Valentine’s Day, it’s chocolate.

And if you have a sweet tooth this Guinness World Record will also have you drooling at the thought.

The world’s largest box of chocolates ever recorded was created by Thorntons and Russell Beck Studios.

It weighed in at 1.689 kilos, was five metres tall and contained over 220,000 chocolates neatly wrapped inside.

The giant box was created to celebrate the launch of Thorntons’ new twist-wrapped chocolates and was unveiled to the public in London’s Leicester Square.

LARGEST UNDERWATER WEDDING 

There are always people out there wanting to test the limits – and two such people are Ewa Staronska and Pawel Bukowski from Poland.

They wanted to break a wedding-related record so held the largest underwater wedding with 303 divers in attendance.

The ceremony was organised by Orka Group Ltd at the Koparki Diving Base in 2011.

MOST COUPLES HUGGING 

The Province of Bergamo in Italy is where the world record for the most people hugging has been held.

The giant embrace was conducted in 2016 and included a total of 11,460 participants, meaning a whopping 5,730 couples.

This impressive achievement created a five kilometre line along the wall of Bergamo and was part of the cities application to become UNESCO world heritage listed.

FASTEST WEDDING CHAPEL ON WHEELS

In 2010, Reverend Darrell Best from Illinois, USA, converted his 1940s fire truck into a wedding chapel on wheels.

Reverend Best has married over 40 couples in the vehicle so far and he said the main attraction has been the fact that it allows people to get married wherever and however they want.

The venue allows couples to tie the knot while they’re on the road and is capable of reaching speeds of 99 kilometres per hour.
