17 Effective Home Remedies to Lighten Black Knees and Elbows

Nobody likes dried, cracked, dark elbows or knees, they are uncomfortable and unattractive. You will not have to suffer with them any more with these natural home remedies!

The elbows and knees do not contain oil glands, therefore they cannot get oil to the surface of the skin to keep them moisturized, so they become dry and dark in color. The buildup of thick, dead skin formed by friction or pressure on the elbows or knees causes the skin to turn black. This is often embarrassing for women, I mean don’t we have enough to feel self-conscious about? If you do not exfoliate these areas regularly, then the skin will become rough, dry, flaky, and often dark in color. These home remedies can help solve your darker skin color where they shouldn’t be.

 

1. Massage oil

This is one of the more traditional ways to moisturize the body and lighten dark skin.

Take a sufficient amount of any natural oil
Apply the oil on the darkest parts of the skin
Massage the oil into the skin for a few minutes leave for about an hour
After an hour, rinse with water
Do this daily

2. Baking Soda

Baking soda is a natural exfoliant that when used regularly for the knees and elbows will scrub the dead skin cells from the skin to lighten the color, and cleanses the skin.

Take 1 tablespoon of baking soda and add a little bit of milk.
Stir well until you have a paste
Apply the paste on the knees or elbows
Scrub gently then rinse with water
Do this every day

3. Onion and garlic

Onions and garlic are great for lightening darker elbows and knees.

Take 1 large garlic clove and peel it
Grate or crush the garlic
Take 1 onion and grate it
Mix together the onion and garlic
Apply to the knees or elbows, but concentrate on the darkest areas.
Rub about 10-15 minutes and rinse with water
Then mix 1 part of glycerin and lime juice and 2 parts rose water
Apply the mixture after scrubbing with the onion and garlic scrub to get rid of the smell.

4. Mint

Take a bowl and pour water into it
Boil the water then add a handful of mint leaves
Boil for some time and squeeze in the juice from half a lemon
Turn off flame and allow to cool
Soak a cotton ball in the mixture
Dab the cotton ball on knees or elbow and apply thoroughly
Leave for about 10-15 minutes and rinse with warm water

5. Gram flour and yogurt

Take a bowl and add 2 tablespoons of gram flour in it
Add the yogurt and stir to make a paste
Apply the paste onto skin
Let sit for 15-20 minutes and rub in a circular motion for another 5-10 minutes.
Wash with water and repeat

6. Olive oil and sugar

Take equal amount of olive oil and sugar
Stir well
Apply the mixture to the knees or elbows
Dissolve the mixture by rubbing for at least 5-10 minutes
Wash after all sugar is dissolved

7. Yogurt and almond

Take a bowl and add 1 tablespoons of yogurt and 1 teaspoon of vinegar
Stir well and apply the paste
Leave for 20-30 minutes

8. Coconut oil and walnut

Take 3-5 walnuts and the ground them
Then add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil to walnuts and stir well
Apply the paste to skin
Rub gently for 10-15 minutes
Wash with warm water

9. Turmeric, honey, and milk

Take a bowl and add turmeric powder
Add milk and honey to powder mix
Apply a paste to skin
Let sit for 20 minutes, then wet hands
Rub for about 2 minutes and rinse completely

10. Lemon and honey

Take freshly squeezed lemon
Add honey to lemon juice
Let sit 15-25 minutes then wash

11. Bleaching fruits and veggies

Oranges
Cucumber
Grapes
Tomatoes
Potatoes

12. Aloe Vera gel

Take fresh Aloe
Squeeze leaf to get the gel
Apply fresh gel to the skin
Let sit for about 30-45 minutes
Wash off with water

13. Buttermilk, oatmeal, and almonds

Take almonds and grind them
Then add ground oatmeal and almonds in a bowl
Add an amount of buttermilk
Stir well to make a fine paste
Rub it gently and leave for 10-15 minutes
Wash with water

14. Butter

Take cocoa butter or shea butter
Apply to skin
Massage for a few minutes
Leave for few hours then wash with water
Apply at night before bed and leave

15. Potatoes

Take potato and cut into small pieces and place in a bowl
Mash with yogurt to make a paste
Apply to the skin
Wash with water

16. Papaya

Take a slice of papaya and cut into small pieces
Add water to make a paste
Apply mixture to the skin
Allow to sit for 10 minutes
Wash off

17. Lemon and sugar

Take equal amounts of lemon juice and sugar
Mix well and apply to skin
Rub for a few minutes
Then wash with soap followed by water
