On The Tonight Show, Alicia Keys wielded her musical prowess in a game called “Wheel of Musical Impressions” and she started by teaching Adele her ABC’s, that is, she sang the alphabet song to the tune of Adele’s famous “Hello.”
And there’s no doubt that she didn’t want her Voice cohort and fellow judge, Gwen Stefani, to feel left out so she took “Miss Mary Mack” and used that for No Doubt’s “Just a Girl.”
Then, unfortunately, Jimmy felt like he needed to sing even though Alicia Keys was sitting right there and he went on to terrify us as a Pointer Sister selling insurance, that is, he sang the State Farm jingle but imagine if Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs was doing the singing.
Thankfully, Alicia took the mic back and stole a little piece of our hearts with Janis Joplin’s famous tune, but with “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” lyrics instead.
Keys isn’t the only Voice coach to participate in The Tonight Show’s “Musical Impressions” sketch: Adam Levine did it in September 2014, while Christina Aguilera did it in February 2015.
