He also helped Portugal to a third place finish in the Confederations Cup over the summer following on from their victory at Euro 2016.

The Barcelona forward came out in front of fellow nominees Carli Lloyd, who collected the award last year, and Deyna Castellanos.
Real’s Zinedine Zidane took the best men’s coach while Holland boss Sarina Wiegman won the female coach award.
Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud scoped the Puskas gong, Juventus’ Gianluigi Buffon was named the top goalkeeper and Celtic won the Fan award.
