Numerous German leading lawmakers and politicians don’t plan to visit FIFA World Cup 2018 on June 14-15 in Russia.
Wolfgang Schäuble, the President of the Bundestag, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the President of Germany, Heiko Maas, Germany’s Foreign Minister, Olaf Scholz, the Vice Chancellor and Finance Minister of Germany, for now, do not intend to visit FIFA World Cup 2018, as their official representatives informed the news agency.
At the same time, it remains unknown whether Angela Merkel, the Chancellor of Germany, is to visit the event. As her representative stated, the information about Merkel’s visits is usually reported a week before its carrying out.
“It concerns this case as well,” the representative noted.
In his turn, Horst Seehofer, Germany’s Interior Minister, who is responsible for sports, told about the intentions to watch one of the games of the German team alive, if the work schedule allows.
Besides, the news agency made public the results of the survey, which shows that 62% respondents supported the idea that the leading German politicians visit FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia, 30% – are against it.
