Police have arrested more than 95 people involved in protests against the inauguration of President Donald Trump on Friday, a spokesman said.
“We have arrested approximately 95 people,” said Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Lt. Sean Conboy, AFP reports.
He said they were arrested for “vandalism and destruction of property.”
Conboy said two police officers were hurt during confrontations with the protesters.
In a statement, the Washington DC police said protesters “acting in a concerted effort engaged in acts of vandalism and several instances of destruction of property. More specifically, the group damaged vehicles, destroyed the property of multiple businesses, and ignited smaller isolated fires while armed with crowbars, hammers, and asps.”
