Neymar scored four goals and Edinson Cavani became Paris St-Germain’s all-time joint top scorer as the Ligue 1 leaders hammered mid-table Dijon.

PSG were 4-0 up at half-time after goals by Angel Di Maria (2), Cavani and Neymar.

Neymar scored the next two to complete a 31-minute hat-trick before Kylian Mbappe made it 7-0 and Neymar completed the rout from the penalty spot.

Cavani has 156 goals in all competitions for PSG.

The Uruguay forward has the same number as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who played for PSG between 2012-16.

Neymar’s decision to take the penalty denied Cavani the chance to make club history and home fans responded with whistles.

“I think Neymar took the penalty because it was also a good day for him,” said PSG boss Unai Emery.

“We’re happy with it. But there will be lots more chances for Cavani to score more goals.”

PSG lead the table by 11 points from nearest rivals Lyon after 21 games – who they play on Sunday.

The leaders have won their past eight league and cup games, scoring 31 goals and conceding six.

Dijon, who are 11th in the table, are without a win in their past four games.
