Sergio Aguero has handed Pep Guardiola a major boost – returning to training just 11 days fracturing a rib in a car crash.

The Manchester City striker took part in a light session with club physios on Tuesday.

Medical staff are still to place a date on his return to first team action – but the 29-year-old’s rapid recovery is encouraging for Guardiola.

Just last week Argentina team doctor Donato Villani claimed he would be sidelined until mid November – revealing he was struggling to move.

“He’s going to be off the pitch for a month and a half,” said the doctor.

“He can’t move in his house, nor get in and out of the car. He seemed very down to me because we wanted to be here (with Argentina).”

Aguero was involved in accident when travelling in a taxi Amsterdam at the end of last month.

He missed the 1-0 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and his country’s World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Ecuador.

His initial prognosis would have potentially seen him ruled out of Champions League ties against Napoli – and City’s game against Arsenal on November 5.

Now the hope is that he will be back in action in time for the visit of Arsene Wenger’s side and potentially sooner.
