How Spanish Football Club, Sevilla Held A Minute’s Silence For The Wrong Person

The error was made after the announcer in the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium told supporters that the appreciation was for Sanchez Merino, instead of Enrique Gonzalez Merino.

On Saturday, Spanish football club Sevilla held a minute’s silence for the wrong person before their home game against Valencia.

The club has already apologised for the mistake.

[Sevilla] apologises, a minute’s silence was mistakenly announced in the stadium for Sanchez Merino, rather than Enrique Gonzalez Merino”, it said on Twitter.



Sevilla went on to win the game 2-1 courtesy of an own goal from Ezequiel Garay and a shot from Nico Parejafollowing a corner 15 minutes from time. They have now moved up to second place in the Spanish La Liga.
