Watch In Terror As A 4-Year-Old Boy Falls Into Gorilla Enclosure At Zoo

A zoo is supposed to be a fun place for families to go and see some animals, but this experience turned out to be a mother’s worst nightmare.

Her 4 year old boy somehow fell down into the gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo. People gasp when they see the little boy in the shallow water, and one woman yells ‘stay calm.’
The mother yells to her son saying ‘mommy loves you.’ The 400 pound plus gorilla named Harambe dragged the boy by his arm through the water for about 10 minutes.
Some onlookers thought the gorilla was trying to protect the boy, but that was not confirmed. The video of the young child being dragged is quite jarring.

The gorilla then picked the child up and dragged him to another area inside the enclosure, according to zoo officials.

The zoo’s dangerous animal response team made a tough call and shot and killed the 17 year old animal. The child was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover.

Zoo Director Thane Maynard said that the gorilla didn’t appear to be attacking the child but was ‘an extremely strong’ animal in an agitated situation. He says that a tranquilizer wouldn’t have knocked the gorilla out fast enough and the boy would have been in danger. Many people are outraged that the gorilla was killed.
