Zinedine Zidane admits he will be sacked by Real Madrid if the club lose to Paris St Germain in the Champions League.
The Frenchman is clinging on to his job after Los Blancos’ season plummeted new depths last night.
Already trailing La Liga leaders Barcelona by 19 points, Real Madrid were knocked out of the Copa de Rey on Wednesday after losing 2-1 at home to Leganes.
It means the Champions League is all Real Madrid have left to play for this season, with a two-legged Last-16 tie against PSG coming up.
Asked if his future depended on the outcome of that match, Zidane said: ‘Yes, that’s clear.
‘I’m responsible for this, I’m the boss. I have to find the solutions. We’ve found some of them but not consistently enough. I need to take responsibility and I’ll always fight.’
Real Madrid host PSG on Wednesday February 14 before the return leg in Paris on Tuesday March 6.
Speaking about Real Madrid’s dreadful defeat to Leganes, Zidane said: ‘It’s a fiasco.
‘My worst moment as a coach. I don’t regret anything I did in the game, though. I take responsibility for what I do.
‘To start this tie in the manner we did it’s really bad. For that I’m angry. I don’t understand what’s going on.’
